Local journalists have organized human chain and protest against the attack on the journalist in Satkhira and the subsequent counter-case. A 48-hour ultimatum has been given demanding the arrest of the real attackers from the program and the withdrawal of the OC of Sadar police station.
This program was held on the initiative of Satkhira Press Club at Satkhira New Market Shaheed Alauddin Chatwar area on Sunday (April 05) at 11 am.
President of the press club Abul Kashem presided over and joint general secretary M. Journalists from various media outlets of the district participated in the human chain organized by Belal Hossain.
The speakers in the human chain said that the brutal attack on NTV journalist SM Zulfikar Ali Jinnah was not arrested and the victims were prosecuted instead, which is a travesty of justice. They alleged that Mehdi Ali Sujoy, who was not present at the scene, was also implicated in the case, which was intentional.
Speakers also said that an influential syndicate has been holding hostage common people in the Satkhira Sadar sub-registry office for a long time. If you go outside this syndicate to get services, you have to be harassed and attacked.
Kalyan Banerjee, Mumtaz Ahmed Bapi, Asaduzzaman Asad and other journalist leaders spoke in the human chain. Speakers warned that if the demands of arrest of attackers, withdrawal of false cases and withdrawal of OC are not met within the next 48 hours, a larger agitation will be launched.
Incidentally, on March 30, journalist Jinnah was attacked in the Satkhira Sadar sub-registry office over a dispute related to land registry. Allegedly,The attack was carried out because a syndicate was working outside the office. Later, without taking action against the attackers, on the contrary, a case was filed in the name of some journalists, and the journalist community became angry.
