Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Talukdar Abdul Khalek said that the book festival is a beautiful and noble initiative.
Through this initiative, the education system of Bangladesh has improved. Building a prosperous nation is not possible without education.
The mayor said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the textbook festival distribution of new books, publication of annual examination results and distribution of merit awards at Khulna Collegiate Girls School and KCC Women's College premises on Monday morning.
The city mayor said that the current government has been distributing new textbooks free of charge to primary and secondary level students on the first day of the year in the country since 2010 to ensure equal opportunities for education for all.
In 2010, about 19 crore books were distributed to students. Currently, the education system has undergone radical changes.
Government has introduced international standard education system. As a result, students can now learn hands-on in the new curriculum. For this there will be no need to coach the students.
Future generations of students will benefit from the new curriculum. The Mayor called upon the parents to play a responsible role to make the students qualified.
Khulna Collegiate Girls School and KCC Women's College Principal Professor Md Tauhiduzzaman presided over the event. At that time, the member of the college's management council, Advocate Jasmine Parveen Jolly, parent member Dr. Moazzem Hossain, Md. Shahidul Islam, teachers-students and parents were present. Mayor handed over new textbooks to the students on the occasion.
Earlier Mayor Rupsa distributed books among students in secondary and primary schools.
This year, 33,86,645 new books were distributed among 2,60,963 students of 545 primary and 545 secondary schools in Khulna district and 10,16,637 among 2,14,131 students of 1,576 elementary schools. New books will be distributed. Besides, new books will be distributed among 39 thousand seven hundred 35 students of 1 thousand five hundred 68 schools of pre-primary level.
